What's so special about PHOTO PASS??

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there! You're as welcome as can BE!

I've totally been visiting "insane world" this summer and I'm finding it hard to sit down and put together some really great information for Sisney world. But when my good friend D.O.C. (writes an excellent blog called the Disney Obsession) checked in just to see if I was still alive I knew I needed to post again.

Today I'm going to talk about buying buying PhotoPass pictures

Originally when I thought about Photo Pass I thought "What are you nuts?" I have my own ALREADY PAID FOR camera thank you very much. I can take my own pictures."

Then I became more and more aware of the face that I WASN'T IN ANY OF THEM!

Photo Pass Photographers are ALL OVER DISNEY WORLD!Just look for the folks with the GIANT camera around their neck and a patch somewhere on their clothes that says Photo Pass. Keep up with the card that they give you. You could have one or two, but dont have like a zillion of them b/c they're too hard to keep up with. We leave ours with our tickets in our little pouches.

When you get home You Go Online and View Photos
Go online and enter the I.D. number on your card. From there you can view, share and edit your photos, and order prints. For the best value, get all your photos on Disney's PhotoCD!*

Then add whatever cool borders, etc you want. You can get as many as you'd like.

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting the CD. Its MUCH MORE value for your money and you can get one photo with 4-5 different borders all for the same cost. If you PRE-PURCHASE your CD then you save 20% off the cost, whis is really worth it. Pre-purchased the CD is $99.00. Then of course, you have to print all the pictures youreslf. BUT what a lot of people dont know is that there are some really COOL pics you can only get from Photo Pass Photographers. Here's just a few of OUR favorite EXCLUSIVES.

See Tinkerbelle there in Grammy's hand?

Stitch is there being his messy self with my son

Here's my hubby crossing swordes with the mighty Capin' Hook!

Awwww. Simba! It's time for your nap!

These are just some of the cool shots that you cannot get ANWHERE with YOUR personal camera.

There's one more reason for us to do photo pass..
This. A picture of my entire family, including my parents, all together.

Totally worth it!

Another way to get autographs

Sure, you could get an autograph book for your kids that they'll only rarely look at after your trip is over.

Or.........

You could buy a larger autograph matte from a local store (target, bed bath and beyond, party stores, craft stores) and have the characters sign THAT! Then pop a picture in and you have a GREAT keepsake that you and your kids will treasure for years.

Make sure you get one large enough for many characters to sign. I think an 11x13 would be great. Just remember it will need to be carried on a clipboard (hard surface to sign on) and you probably want it to fit in your back pack for easy carrying. :)

Oh my aching feet!

Your feet will take a POUNDING when you're at Disney World. You may walk as little as 3-5 miles during a day at Hollywood Studios to 12+ on an Epcot or Animal Kingdom Day. Each loop around World Showcase in Epcot is a mile!! So if you've not planned well and you're going back and forth across the parks you're going to ACHE.
The other problem is that its a pretty humid environment, which means your feet are going to get even more sweaty!! So here are a few Feet-Friendly tips for your next trip.
1) Get some good sneakers! I have to say honestly that there's no way your feet aren't killing in those flip flops after a day or two. Your arches are completely NOT supported!! Its smart to pack a pair of flip flops for the water rides or just to give your feet some time to cool off...but all day??? Thats gotta kill.
Make sure you give yourself at least a month in a NEW pair of sneakers prior to your trip. Its going to be really painful trying to break those babies in at WDW.
My husband wore some real Crocs (NOT IMITATION CHEAP ONES) and he said they were fine on him, but he also has really high arches. I saw a woman in mules and I thought she had to be about to DIE by the end of the day. Disney World is not a place for fashion statements, so make good footwear choices!!
#2. Get a Band-Aid Blister Block Stick. I personally use the blister stick almost every single day b/c it helps my day to day heels and flats not rub giant blisters on my feet. But at Disney World something like this is a must! Put your blister block on the bottoms of your feet, toes, and heels then put some moisture-wicking socks on top of that for happier, less blistered feet!!
#3) Moleskin can help - If you do begin to rub some places a little pink on your feet, then cut out some Moleskin as soon as possible to put on your tootsies. It will help to reduce the friction within your shoes and reduce pain and blisters.
Your feet are VERY important things on a trip to WDW. Its essential that you take good care of them b/c they can make your trip a REAL BUMMER if you dont.

Understanding Fast Passes

Say it with me... Fast Passes are my FRIEND!!!

Knowing how to use the FastPass at main attractions can save you TONS of time at Disney World. But first you have to know what it is and where to get one.

What is a FastPass? Think of a FastPass as a piece of paper that holds your place in line while you ride other attractions. It gives you a window of time to return where you will get into a second line with a much shorter wait.

Who needs a FastPass? Every person in your party who is going to ride the ride MUST have a fast pass. Nobody will be allowed to ride through the fast pass line if they don't have this little slip of paper. The people who do not plan to ride DO NOT NEED A FASTPASS!

How do I get one? Locate the FastPass machines for that attraction. With only a few exceptions they are located very near the entrance to the attraction.Insert your park admission ticket into the FASTPASS machine and receive a FASTPASS coupon with a time range to return. So this means that if you're the one being sent to go get the fastpasses for everybody else you must have A PARK TICKET (or your key to the world, depending on what package you have) for EACH PERSON who needs a fast pass. Typical time range for a return visit is about an hour.

How does FastPass work?
First off, fast passes are FREE. They cost you nothing so use them well!
If you come pretty early in the day your fast pass will usually "come up" about an hour from the time that you get it. For example. You get your fastpasses at 11:05, then any time between 12:05 and 1:05 you can come and get int he Fast Pass line.
If you come to get a FastPass at say, 11am for Soarin' your entry time might not be until 4:00pm. Yet another reason why you need to get there earlier in the day.
The second important thing you need top pay attention to is right here.. where it says "Another FastPass ticket will be available after 12:05pm. This means that you cannot go and get a fast pass for another ride until this time. So DON'T WASTE YOUR FASTPASSES on stupid things that don't usually have a wait,
How do I know if I should get a FastPass or just wait in Standby? We have a rule in the Diva household. "If standby is more than 20 minutes, fastpass it." The only thing we'll wait longer for is Expedition Everest, and even then it can't be longer than 30. Our last trip, the standby for Splash Mountain was 50 minutes. Fastpass wait was only 60!!! So instead of standing in line like a goob, grab a fast pass, do some stuff that has no wait or minimal wait then use your fast passes and walk to the front of the line. I bet we passed close to 250 people in the line for Splash Mountain.... I kid you not. And we walked DIRECTLY onto the ride.. No wait for us whatsoever.
What are some rides that I will probably need to use a FastPass for?
Magic Kingdom - Peter Pan, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.
Animal Kingdom - Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safari (depending on how late you wait to ride it. We've ALWAYS walked directly onto this ride. Every single trip), Kali River Rapids.
Hollywood Studios- Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania, Rockin' Roller coaster.
Epcot - Soarin' , Mission Space, Test Track.
What does NOT need a fast pass... ever!
a) Do not waste a fast pass on ANY SHOWS.... We saw someone arriving late for Nemo with a fast pass and they were turned away. First off, the Nemo seating is HUGE and if you're there in any reasonable proximity to the showing you'll get a seat.
b) Do not waste a fast pass on any 3D Movies or Cartoon Interactive. For example: Tough to be a Bug, Philharmagic, Turtle Talk with Crush or Monsters Inc. You will most likely get in a show if you're there at least 5-10 minutes to when its scheduled. If you don't make that show come back, they're really regular!
c) Anything with under a 20 minute standby. By the time you get through the extremely long queues you've burned 5 minutes of it anyway.
So there you go. Got more fast pass questions. PLEASE ASK!!!
